Top 10 Chat-up Lines
67I was talking to a mate in a pub last night and we got to the subject of chat-up lines. And there were two key points. Firstly. Is there actually such a thing as a chat-up line and secondly if there is, what's the best technique ?
Do Chat-Up Lines Exist ?
This may seem like a daft question but when you consider what a chat-up line actually is, then it's not so daft. You see, a chat up line is really just an introduction line. It's not something that actually gets you the girl/guy, it's a introductory line to allow you to talk so that you can 'progress' with the girl/guy.
The issue is that one line on it's own isn't going to actually make the difference. There are some, such as 'Get your coat, you've pulled' which make you think that it'll all happen in one line but the reality is not quite like that. It's more likely that you are using a line to get someone's attention and then there is further conversation. In which case, we considered that Chat-up lines should actually just be Introductory lines and the 'chat-up' was a longer and more considered process. Clearly that's bollocks and we gave up and realised that chat-up lines do exist and we needed to find the best one.
The Best Chat-Up Lines
Now we could have spent a couple of hours making up our own, probably brilliant, chat-up lines but because we had a couple of iPhones with us, we decided that it was better to use the power of the internet. Which is what we did.
And, ladies and gentlemen, this is our finding. The first recommendation was that it doesn't matter what you say, just make sure you use a question that has an answer and that answer isn't yes or no. So, for example, try 'What's your favourite pizza topping ?'.
Clearly bollocks so we looked at the second recommendation. Something romantic such as 'Did you hurt yourself falling from heaven as you look like you must be an angel' . Rubbish. You'd never get anywhere.
Then there's the downright straightforward such as 'Do you sleep on your stomach ? Can I ?' Which would get you injured.
So, after extensive research, use 'Hi, my name is xxx. Can I buy you a drink.'. And smile.
